Parents will be informed about the relevant books and resources required for individual students based on their level and course of study.
In most cases, materials will be delivered to the student's home address via postal services.
We use the Read Qaidah book (Learning Roots Publishers), which introduces the Arabic alphabet, harakaat and the rules of Tajweed.
Upon completion of the Qaidah, students will begin reciting Juz Amma' from a Uthmani script mushaf.
Students memorise the du'as in the Essential Duas in the Life of a Muslim book (published by Jamiatul Ulama, South Africa). The du'as are separated into different grades based on their topics, and the English translation is provided.
Students begin memorisation of Qur'anic surahs from Surah An-Naas to Surah An-Naba'. After completing memorisation of Juz 'Amma, students will begin memorising Surah Al-Baqarah.
We use the Islamic Studies curriculum from Weekend Learning Publishers, covering broad aspects of Islam based on the Qur'an and authentic Hadith.
The curriculum is systematically organised to meet the needs of a supplementary school and is tailored by age, grade, and learning level. We currently offer Levels 1 to 7 from the series.
The relevant books can be purchased from us upon registration & at the beginning of each academic year.
Students will begin with the Qaidah Reader book, being set an amount to learn in preparation for each lesson. During the lesson, the teacher will listen to each student recite, make any corrections and provide feedback. Teachers will then set more work for the students to practice and learn.
Students may be asked to repeat the same words, lines or pages until the teacher is confident with student progress and quality of reading.
Upon completion of the Qaidah, students will begin reciting Juz Amma' from a Uthmani script mushaf.
Students memorise the du'as from the Essential Du'as in the Life of a Muslim book, along with the English translation. Teachers will assign a du'a or part of a longer du'a for the student to memorise in preparation for the lesson.
During the lesson, the teacher will listen to each student read the assigned du'a from memory, make any corrections and provide feedback. Teachers will then set the next du'a for the student to practice and learn for the following lesson.
The same teaching method will be used for memorisation of Qur'anic surahs. Students will begin memorising from Surah An-Naas to Surah An-Naba'. After completing memorisation of Juz 'Amma, students will begin memorising Surah Al-Baqarah.
The Weekend Learning textbook will be used in the Islamic studies lessons.
We aim to cover one lesson from the textbook each week and aim to complete one level per academic year.
For each lesson, an online quiz on Google Form will be posted via the Google Classroom platform. These are required to be completed prior to the following lesson. These quizzes are marked by the teacher and a record is kept of students results.
Students are expected to join each lesson on time and keep their cameras on throughout the lesson.
Students should keep themselves on mute unless they are asked to unmute themselves by the class teacher.
It is expected for students to prepare and practice the work they have been assigned for all subject prior to each lesson.
Students should remain focused throughout the lesson, listening to others speak and contribute when asked to.
During Qaidah & Quran lessons, students should continue to practice their reading, even if the teacher is occupied with listening to other students read.
Students should feel comfortable in asking the teacher any questions or asking to repeat anything they do not completely understand.
Students should always be respectful to the class teacher and to peers.
Parents should encourage students to practice the assigned Qaidah or Quran parts in preparation for each lesson. It is recommended that students practice everyday, particularly memorisation of surahs and du'as to ensure previously memorised content is retained.
Parents should assist students in completing their Islamic studies quizzes, should they face any difficulty.
In the case of any issues related to the lessons or student progress, parents should arrange a time to speak to the class teacher. Alternatively, they can contact the headteacher by emailing info@alfatihavirtual.com.
Teachers are expected to begin the online lesson on time.
If there is any reason for a teacher to be unable to deliver a lesson or is unable to start the lesson on time, AVM management and parents should be informed as soon as possible. In the case of a lesson being cancelled or rescheduled, parents will be informed by AVM management.
Teachers should ensure that all students are focused throughout the lesson and aware of the work they have been assigned for each subject.
During Qaidah and Qur'an lessons, teachers should encourage students to practice their reading whilst other students are reciting to the teacher.
Students are required to mark and give feedback to students for Islamic studies quizzes regularly. They should try their best to clarify any content that has not been correctly understood by any student.
We use reward points for encouragement of students in the Weekend & Evening Madrasah throughout the academic year.
Each student is given reward points for each lesson, depending on:
Attendance & Punctuality
Level of preparation of Qaidah/Qur'an reading
Memorisation of surahs & duas and contribution

Students with the highest number of points are given the Student of the Month Award and are presented with a certificate.
